Gondi Group optimizes its supply chain

11 September, 2020 latin america

The Mexican paper packaging company will use technology for transportation management at its 14 facilities in Mexico.

Grupo Gondi, the leading paper packaging manufacturer in Mexico, signed a contract for the acquisition of Transplace’s Sistema Gestión de Transporte (TMS), in order to make its cross-border and intra-Mexico transport network more efficient.

“We have 14 locations in Mexico and working with Transplace experts allows us to access best practices in the packaging industry, along with a deep understanding of the logistical complexities of our regions,” explained Javier Gómez Contreras, Logistics Director at Grupo Gondi.

In a statement, Transplace, the global logistics technology and services company, reported that the implementation of the system will begin at the Gondi plant in Monterrey and will be gradually installed in the rest of the locations in order to ensure a smooth transition along the packaging manufacturer’s transportation network.

Thanks to this new system, Grupo Gondi will be able to improve the tracking and location of inbound and outbound shipments through Mexico, performance metrics and routing guides, as well as have visibility into intermodal services, trucks to make their capacity more flexible and adjust transport needs for their raw material, and finished product movements.

Javier Gómez explained that TMS is a software that will easily integrate with the SAP and AMCS systems, which the company has, in addition to Transplace training its teams for the use of this new technological tool, which will imply the automation of the manual processes that currently have and allow better management of transport costs.

Grupo Gondi has 15 facilities in Mexican territory, employing more than 7,000 people, and exports packaging products to more than 159 countries on five continents. It is a leading supplier in sectors such as automotive, appliances, plastics, beverages, processed foods, personal care, health care, construction and architecture, agriculture, glass, footwear and clothing.
