The national unemployment rate for August 2020 stood, according to the report on the labour market submitted by the Department of National Administrative Statistics (Dane), at 16.8%, 6 percentage points more than in August last year, when this rate reached 10.8%. In addition, it represents an improvement compared to the immediately previous month when it stood at 20.2%. The agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry, and fisheries sectors increased by 137,000 people.
Compared to August last year, the occupied population fell by 2.4 million people. In total, last month 3,965,000 people were out of work in Colombia. Dane figures show that 1.7 million jobs were recovered in August compared to July, and 3.2 million against April.
